We are happy to feature Cellar 46° as our next Wine Bar of the month. In reality, it is really our wine store of the month as well, since it is both! This fantastic new wine bar draws it's name from Washington State’s primary grape growing region located on latitude 46° N. This is also the same line of latitude as the famed Bordeaux grape growing region of France.
Founder Ryan Allison went to every wine bar and wine store in the Greater Seattle area to research what he felt worked and to see what didn't as he formulated his vision for Cellar 46°. The result is a perfect combination: a sexy, comfortable venue for people to mingle, relax, meet friends, and enjoy tasting wine, while also giving residents the opportunity to shop for wines you don't see in every grocery store to take home. Cellar 46° is small enough to be intimate, but big enough to have room for 12 at the bar, plenty of tables, and a LOT of wine to pick from!
One of the unique features of Cellar 46° is you can buy the wine at retail off the shelves to go, or pay a $15 corking fee to enjoy it there. Most restaurants and wine bars mark their wines up 200-300% over what they pay for it, not Cellar 46°, all of their wines on their list are only marked up $15. Ryan leaves most of the buying to Kitrick Kalebaugh, an affable guy who tries to have a nice blend ranging from everyday value wines to trophy wines stored in their temperature controlled room. He's helpful and fun to "shop" with, and tries to have a little something for everyone. They feature an extensive collection of Washington & Oregon wines along with some California and a section of Old World favorites to please every palate.
 
Nalani Dias is their Head Chef who only wears black, not white, and who creates a lively variety of noshing foods for those who are sipping and socializing. While that is the main interest of the customers and focus of the menu, for the occasional guest who has a $150 bottle of Cabernet, she can treat them to a savory steak or hearty entrée.
Ryan wanted Cellar 46 to not only be a hangout for the affluent neighborhood surrounding the wine bar, but to also be a destination for others to come to for a first class experience that is done right but remains casual. It's location, directly off of I-90 off the 77th St. Exit is amazingly convenient, and there's free and easy parking in the garage under the building.

Cellar 46° also features wine lockers and wine shipping services and a regular schedule of wine education, tasting opportunities with guest winemakers, and live music events.
